Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a Federal income supplement program funded by general tax revenues (not Social Security taxes):
- It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income; and
- It provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.
Unlike Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program does not require that the individual with a physical or mental disability to have previously paid into the Social Security system.
To qualify, an individual must prove that they are disabled, and the disability is expected to last at least 12 months or result in death.
All too often, those who are initially denied simply choose to give up. It is a common occurrence for those who are eligible for SSI to be initially turned down. Attorney, Daniel G. Camick can help you exercise your right to appeal the decision.
Mr. Camick can work with your doctor to gather all the necessary medical documentation to support your request for Supplemental Security Income benefits. Using this information, Mr. Camick will help you file an appeal that is designed to get you the financial help you need and entitled to under the Supplemental Security Income program.
